Only Murders in Alliance Part II In-Person
Mattie Hayes led a colorful life.
Open about her transgressions, Hayes was front and center during an Alliance scandal involving corruption in city government.
It was when a bullet cut Hayes’ life short in 1919 that a real mystery emerged and there are still unanswered questions more than a century later.
Using research compiled by Alliance Historical Society Vice President Michelle Dillon, fellow board member Jack Weber, the community relations manager at Rodman Public Library, will tell the story on Wednesday, October 30 when he presents “Only Murders in Alliance, Part II: The Life, Death, and Mystery of Mattie Hayes.”
The program, which is jointly sponsored by the Alliance Historical Society, the Alliance Area Preservation Society, and the Castle Crusaders, will be given at both 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. in the Rodman Auditorium.
Registration is required at rodmanlibrary.com.
Due to the subject matter, the program is recommended for mature audiences 18 and older.
